"This community, this council, everyone in this room knows more about Placentia than I do," Hatch said, adding that he will "learn the Placentia way" while listening to residents and staff. He asked the council to use its second meeting in February for an annual midyear budget review and to move CIP discussion forward from spring so councilmembers can make funding decisions earlier in the fiscal year.
The request aligns with recent public comments and staff project updates that identified multiple active street rehabilitation efforts. Hatch framed his proposal as a way to give the council the information needed to make funding decisions up front and to ensure street projects are visible in the budget process.
Councilmembers did not object to the plan and staff said they would prepare for a February 18 meeting that would include the midyear CIP discussion and related materials.
