The board adopted the district's language access plan and the 2027'28 academic calendar at its June 23 meeting following presentations by Dr. Brian Bass and Kaye Blaha.
Kaye Blaha presented the public-facing draft of the language access plan and said one revision since the June work session strengthened the commitment statement to ensure multilingual families have the same communication experience as other district families. "The public version of a language access plan before you tonight is the final draft," Blaha told the board. Administration recommended adoption and board members praised the district's prior language supports and the plan's emphasis on consistency across the organization.
Blaha also described the calendar process: for the first time the district used a ground-up community engagement initiative that gathered 2,729 stakeholder responses; a calendar committee analyzed feedback and cabinet reviewed drafts. The board approved the 2027'28 academic calendar by roll-call vote, 6-0. Directors said they appreciated the community engagement and signaled the calendar committee will continue annually with surveys about every three years.
