Osseo board approves 10-year long-term facility maintenance plan, coordinates projects with major renovations

Facilities leaders presented the district's updated 10-year Long Term Facility Maintenance (LTFM) plan and a summer construction schedule before the board on June 23.
Dale Carlstrom, director of facility operations who will retire at the end of July, introduced the plan and said the Minnesota Department of Education requires a 10-year LTFM update. Colin O'Brien and Jeff Arthurs reviewed the plan's categorical breakdowns, noting health and safety, fire systems and deferred maintenance categories; Arthurs said priorities include replacing aging mechanical and electrical systems and coordinating LTFM investments with Building a Better Future renovation phases to minimize disruption.
Staff outlined major summer 2026 and 2027 projects at high schools and elementary sites and described how categorical LTFM funds are used for roofing, building envelope repairs, athletic fields, paving and other infrastructure work. The board thanked facilities staff for the work and approved the LTFM plan 6-0.
