The Pequot Lakes School Board on May 19 adopted separate resolutions to nonrenew or reduce teaching contracts for three staff members.
The minutes state the board voted to reduce Deborah Ray's contract by .2 FTE, leaving a 0.6 FTE assignment for 2025-26, and noted the action was taken "due to a lack of pupils and financial limitations." The board also adopted a resolution to not renew the teaching contract of probationary teacher Jeremy Weiland, with employment terminating at the end of the 2024-25 school year (effective May 29, 2025). Separately, the board adopted a resolution nonrenewing Tier 1 teacher Garrett Pfeiffer, effective May 29, 2025.
Each resolution states the affected teacher may request written reasons for the nonrenewal from the superintendent, and the minutes record the board's roll call votes in favor. The actions were taken under Minnesota Statute 122A.40, Subd. 5, which governs nonrenewal of probationary teachers.
