Board adopts K–5 ELA curriculum and appoints legal counsel amid split votes

Director Hillenbrand moved and Director Bowman seconded adopting the K–5 ELA curriculum; that motion also passed 5-2.
Both votes recorded the same pattern of support: Directors Bassett, Bowman, Dr. Greta Evans-Becker, Hillenbrand and Dr. Kenneth Wutoh voted in favor; Directors Kim Holmes and Caroline Long voted against. The curriculum adoption will guide K–5 instruction for the coming school year; the legal counsel appointment is recorded in district administrative actions.
