The draft master plan includes a recommendation to establish a dog park; consultant Ian said the idea "has shifted a little bit more into a neutral category" and described it as having become "controversial." He told the board, "There's a lot of people who are strongly in support of it, a lot of people who are strongly opposed to it, and then, a good chunk of people who are now just kind of neutral."
Board members agreed location will be the deciding factor for many residents. One board member observed that dog-park support often maps to whether a speaker owns a dog: "If I don't have a dog, why would I want a dog park?" said a participant during discussion. Members urged continued public outreach and careful siting analysis before the plan proposes a specific location.
