Wayzata Public Schools presented a multi-year Technology Services Strategic Update at its April 29, 2025 work session, detailing device replacement cycles, classroom technology upgrades and steps to strengthen cybersecurity.
The presentation listed specific operational targets: a four-year certified staff laptop cycle covering 900 devices and a three-year student iPad refresh covering about 3,500 devices, plus 170 classroom technology upgrades across high school, middle and elementary sites. Technology staff also flagged network upgrades, a district firewall refresh and deployment of an Abre MTSS/data warehouse as priority projects.
Wade Phillips, listed on the presentation as Director of Technology, described the department's goals for 2024-25, including "Excellent Service and Support," "Enhance Digital Learning" and "Security and Privacy." The slides also summarized Technology Services staffing levels and workload: 10 site support staff, four help-desk technicians, six operations staff, four information systems staff and three teaching & learning integration staff.
Operational metrics shown to the board noted 22,069 help-desk tickets received (reporting period July—March), 315 tickets open, an average response time of about nine hours, a typical resolution time of two days and a satisfaction rate reported at 98 percent. The district described these measures as part of efforts to "prioritize responsive and efficient service and support for all."
