The ISD 199 (Inver Grove Heights Schools) Board of Education on March 25–26, 2026 approved three finalists for Round 2 of its superintendent search. By motion of Member Pierson, seconded by Member Larsen, the board approved Melissa Sonnek, Tyrone Brookins and Robert McDowell as finalists; the motion carried unanimously, 7-0.
MSBA facilitator Barb Dorn led the board through deliberations and a consensus-forming discussion about candidate strengths and next steps. The board also reviewed that Round 2 will include logistics and reference checks before interviews; those procedural items were discussed immediately after the motion to select finalists. The board adjourned the meeting at 10:31 p.m.
