Chair Kendell Ferguson opened the discussion and framed it around modeling the district’s student cell phone policy. After members shared varied perspectives, the Board "reached consensus to allow cell phones at the table, with the expectation of respectful and present engagement. If cell phone use becomes disruptive, the decision will be revisited." The language was recorded as the operational expectation moving forward.
Board members did not adopt a codified sanctions process at the retreat; they agreed to monitor behavior and revisit the operating agreement if the practice proves problematic. The change is administrative and does not alter district student policy.
