Mendota High robotics team showcases BOT after Pinterest visit, eyes March competition

Mendota High School’s robotics team told the Board on Feb. 25 that a recent visit to Pinterest in San Francisco included a meeting with alumnus Juventino Mejia and several senior engineers who “were very impressed” by the students’ work. Director of MOT Richard Carlos reported the team placed first in a Valley competition and won the Inspire Award.
Team members (Manuel Reyes, Jonathan Alfaro and Christopher Torres) and MHS Principal Travis Kirby described the students’ goal of sustaining the program after the current seniors graduate. The group said their next competition is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2026 in Palo Alto, where 32 teams will compete and the top five will advance to the Worlds competition. Principal Kirby asked that the team return to a future board meeting with their BOT.
