Board advances draft drop-box regulations for 60-day public comment

"The regulation is required by virtue of the fact that the legislature adopted, a new, provision in, article 8 of the election law that specifically authorizes but does not mandate, drop boxes," counsel said while describing the regulation’s scope. The board adopted the resolution to publish the proposed rule for a 60-day public comment period; staff said the board will receive comments and then decide whether to adopt or amend the regulation after that period.
