Board certifies ES&S AutoMARK 2 voting system after security and functional testing

Election operations presented the board with the results of extensive security and functional testing of the ES&S 6.5.0.2.01 voting system, known to the board as the AutoMARK 2. Jude Seymour, deputy director for election operations, told commissioners that testing included input from county user requests and independent review by NiceTech and SLI, and that identified issues were resolved to the satisfaction of those reviewers.
"We are recommending the certification of this voting system," Seymour said as staff urged the board to adopt resolution 26-05. The board moved, seconded and the chair declared the resolution approved by voice vote; the transcript does not record a full roll-call tally. Staff said the certified system includes quality-of-life improvements for inspectors and replaces the prior AutoMARK device with an updated ballot-marking device (BMD).
