State Board of Elections unanimously certifies Nov. 4, 2025 results after Rensselaer recount

The New York State Board of Elections on Dec. 9, 2025 voted unanimously to certify the Nov. 4, 2025 general election results, including returns for 11 judicial districts, a statewide proposition and a special election for Assembly District 115. Co-Chair Henry Berger opened the meeting and asked staff to confirm the paperwork needed for certification; staff confirmed the certification documents had been prepared and signed.

Co-executive director Kristen told the board that a post-election manual recount in Rensselaer County followed discovery of a ballot-formatting issue during county post-election verification. Kristen characterized the problem as "a human error," said the tabulators operated as programmed and praised Rensselaer officials: "The recount was conducted by bipartisan teams following procedures established in state election law." The board proceeded without dissent to adopt the certification and complete necessary signatures.

The certification action was procedural and final for the contests covered by the canvass; the board did not alter reported outcomes during the meeting. The board will maintain public records of the certification and related recount documentation as required by state law.
