Erika Franco, the district's Special Education Director, introduced Washington Elementary special‑education staff who were recognized for winning the CAPTAIN Implementation Award and for receiving a 'Superior' rating in Autism Support. Franco congratulated staff members Martha Gonzalez, Elisia Barrera and Jade Parish and said the team has been invited to the statewide summit where they will be recognized.
Student Board Member Yesenia Soriano also thanked the Special Education Department for going 'above and beyond' to support students with autism. Trustees praised the staff for their work; no formal action was required — this was a recognition item on the agenda.
The district will publicize the recognition and the staff are scheduled to attend the statewide summit at the invitation described in the meeting record.
