Propositions would use reserves for bus and equipment purchases; board says no immediate tax increase

The board member emphasized that when capital purchases are paid from reserves the district does not levy additional taxes to fund them.
"As a reminder, when it comes from the reserve, there's no additional, tax increase for the taxpayer," the committee member said while listing the propositions. Board members discussed sequencing and confirmed that reserve transfers for the bus and equipment purchases would reduce immediate tax impacts because the money is already held in district reserves.
The board also asked about the size and purpose of reserves: Hayden said the transportation maintenance reserve was around $860,000 and that other capital reserves also exist. The committee and staff agreed to provide ongoing updates at upcoming work sessions and to clarify ballot language and aidability before propositions are finalized.
