Board authorizes testing of ES&S submission adding AutoMARK 2 device

Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 6 to authorize testing of a submission from ES&S that adds the AutoMARK 2 ballot-marking device to an existing certification submission. Staff said the authorization permits testing only; it does not certify the system itself.
"So this is to approve testing of a new system for me," one commissioner said. Election staff clarified the submission adds the AutoMARK 2 and that testing costs will be covered by the vendor. The board recorded unanimous approval to proceed with functional and security testing.
