Board recognizes FFA and other programs; superintendent outlines projects and staff to follow up on facilities questions
Summary
Trustees recognized students and staff for winter concerts, FFA national convention participation and MESA achievements. Board members used the communications portion of the agenda to thank staff and wish the community a Merry Christmas. Mendota High School Principal Travis Kirby introduced students who participated in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) National Convention in Indianapolis and led the flag salute.
During trustee communications Trustee Sergio Valdez asked about purchasing backup generators for cafeteria freezers. District staff member Mr. R. Carlos said an individual generator would be roughly $500,000 and that he would investigate grant opportunities to offset costs. Trustee Jose C. Zavala requested consideration of a water station for the wrestling room and replacement of faucets at Mendota Elementary; Superintendent Dr. Paul Lopez said he would coordinate with site principal Travis Kirby and the grant team to pursue potential funding and report back to the board.
