The board recognized multiple accomplishments at the start of the June 5 work session. South Medford High School College and Career Advisor Stacy Carle introduced Jamie Murphy, who earned an Associate of Science Oregon Transfer (ASOT) degree while completing high school; the minutes note Jamie expressed gratitude to staff, the Board, the district, and Rogue Community College for support.
Ruch Outdoor Community School Principal Ryan King introduced second-grade teacher Kim Neiswanger as the Oregon English Language Arts Teacher of Excellence, praising her work mentoring students through a book-writing and publishing process. Chair Cynthia Wright also recognized Board Director Suzanne Messer for four years of service (two years as vice chair and two as chair); Messer reflected on her journey and presented a kintsugi-repaired pot to Superintendent Bret Champion as a symbol of growth, and the board presented Messer with a commemorative plaque.
