Board approves multiple fundraisers and contracts; trustee recuses from volleyball item

The Mendota Unified School District Board of Trustees on Sept. 10 approved multiple consent-calendar items including club and athletic fundraisers, vendor agreements and construction-related contract awards.
Among the approvals, trustees authorized Mendota High School clubs and teams to run assorted fundraisers through the 2025–26 school year (examples included a bake sale series, a Rocky Mountain Chocolate fundraiser Sept. 16–Oct. 6 and a CSF caramel-apple sale Oct. 1–22). The board also approved an E-Rate renewal agreement with Infinity Communications (July 2025–June 2028) and granted Ardent General, Inc. the lowest-bidder award and a construction agreement for the Mendota State Preschool classroom addition.
The board handled three consent items differently: Item 8.3 (the Girls Basketball carnival fundraiser on Oct. 18) was removed from the agenda before the vote; Item 8.4 (the Girls Basketball alumni men’s tournament scheduled Oct. 25) was tabled for a future meeting after a 5–2 roll-call vote (Trustees Sherry Charles and Lupe Flores opposed); and Item 8.2 (MHS Girls Volleyball alumni game fundraiser on Oct. 4) was approved with Trustee Sergio Valdez recused from the vote.
