Cloud Lake to pursue No Trespassing signs at The Preserve; ratification deferred to March

Cloud Lake council members discussed steps to address an ongoing homeless encampment at The Preserve and to enable Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies to remove trespassers without a town official present.
Deputy/Detective Sergeant Jason Ekstrom provided an email update about coordination with FDOT, Code Enforcement and Palm Beach County Road & Bridge. The council discussed placing No Trespassing signs posted every 500 feet on all four sides of the Preserve; signs would show "Town of Cloud Lake" in 2-inch letters and include an Owner Applied Number (OAN) that PBSO would store in its Business Partnership Program database to permit deputy response without a town official on site.
The Clerk was authorized to contact PBSO to begin the process and, once approved, to contact Kauff's Signs and Lettering to purchase and install the signs. Because the council lacked a quorum, Town Attorney William P. Doney advised formal ratification of the sign authorization be placed on the March 12 agenda. Councilmember Kathleen Hoock volunteered to be the after-hours contact for the program; Vice Mayor Marion Chateau-Flagg volunteered as an additional contact.
Next steps: staff will start the PBSO process and return the item for formal action at the March 12 meeting.
