The Seaside School Board voted Feb. 18 to give Superintendent Susan Penrod authority to negotiate the sale of a small district-owned parcel (Clatsop County Parcel 61015BC tax lot 2500) with a floor price of not less than the appraised value of $307,000. "I move that the Board give the Superintendent the authority to negotiate the sale of property known as Clatsop County Parcel 61015BC tax lot 2500, for a purchase price of not less than the appraised amount of $307,000," the motion read; it was made by Sondra Gomez, seconded by Shannon Swedenborg and carried 5–0 with two absences.
Penrod said the parcel is unused land near the old high school and includes a reversionary clause that would return the property to the city if it is not used for school purposes. She said she has been in conversations with the City of Seaside and an interested community member and will work toward a sale under the board’s direction. The board did not authorize a specific disposition plan for sale proceeds; a board member requested a future agenda item on how funds might be used.
