Toni Vandershule, Seaside School District business manager, told the board on Feb. 18 that timber revenues arrived about $100,000 higher than projected and that the district’s preliminary general-fund budget projection for the next fiscal year is approximately $24.3 million, not including ending fund balance. "We are on track," Vandershule said, and she cited the timber receipts as a favorable variance.
During discussion, Vandershule also recounted a separate item reported earlier: a data breach at Carruth Compliance, a third-party administrator that handles 403(b) accounts for multiple Oregon districts; she said additional information is posted on the district website. The board received the reports as informational; no budget-adoption action was taken at the meeting. The superintendent noted that the budget season begins with the first meeting scheduled April 15, 2025.
