Council adopts 2026 PROS plan after extensive public engagement

Parks Director Nick Stroup presented the draft 2026 Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Plan and asked council to approve its adoption to maintain grant eligibility and to guide future capital investments. Stroup highlighted extensive public engagement and described the plan as the department's strategic roadmap for parks and recreation investments, funding strategies and grant pursuit.
"Throughout this process, over this past year, we've engaged in more than 3,000 touch points with our community," Stroup said, listing open houses, surveys, pop-up events and stakeholder meetings. Council members praised staff work and community involvement. Council member Dodd moved the recommended action and the deputy mayor seconded; the resolution adopting the 2026 PROS Plan passed 7'–0. Staff noted the plan positions Bothell to pursue state and federal grants and to consider funding strategies including grants, partnerships and a potential parks levy for long-term implementation.
