Superintendent honors National Board-certified teachers; board members receive leadership books

Superintendent Willis opened the recognitions portion of the meeting by highlighting the district's National Board-certified teachers and presenting gifts to board members. He noted the district displays a bulletin board listing roughly 17 National Board-certified teachers and said two recent completers—Tracy Wills of Alexandria Elementary and Leanne Bridal, library media specialist at Saks Elementary—were present. "I think it's probably like getting your doctorate in, education," Willis said of the certification process.
Willis announced Gina Whiting, the district's teacher of the year, is National Board certified and thanked principals and directors for organizing gifts for board members. The board agreed to take a group photo and the recognitions concluded with expressions of appreciation for staff and administrators.
