Board members discussed how that provision might affect a recently passed local ordinance that the commission had approved on first reading; staff recommended holding final action at second reading until there is clarity about the bill's final form and any gubernatorial action.
The board directed staff to monitor the legislation and, if necessary, prepare adjustments to the local ordinance so it would not run afoul of any new state restriction while preserving local policy goals. Staff also agreed to follow up on jurisdictional questions raised later in the meeting (curb-cut and West-side US 1 issues) and report back.
