The Tarkington ISD Board of Trustees voted Aug. 18 to adopt the district’s 2025–26 fiscal year budget for the General Fund, Debt Service Fund, and Child Nutrition Fund and approved a property tax rate of $0.9302 per $100 of assessed value. The vote followed a statutorily required public hearing at which Chief Financial Officer Thad Lasater presented the proposed budget and noted prior board review.
Board members approved the tax-rate motion, moved by Kevin Johnson and seconded by Susan Rollins; the board recorded a 6–0 vote with one absence (Paige Bostwick). The tax rate approved is split between $0.6669 for Maintenance and Operations and $0.2633 for Debt Service. The board also approved a motion designating CFO Thad Lasater as the Tax Calculation Officer to compute the No New Revenue Rate and the Voter Approval Rate for the 2025 tax year.
