City staff reported an active month for construction and permitting, saying the city has outpaced prior years in new single-family-home permits and that fiscal-year 2024 permitting revenue totaled $1,812,624. Dave said the current pace suggests the city will likely exceed that number this year if the single-family trend continues.
On specific projects, the Seikai townhomes (12 units) were shown in renderings and staff said a building-permit revision is pending and vertical construction could begin once permits are issued. A hotel application on Federal Highway is at the final county-plat-approval stage; staff said the brand is not yet disclosed. The yacht-club property remains privately owned and the applicant continues to seek investors; staff said the city is not holding up the process but noted some permits and entitlements can expire and extensions may be requested.
Committee members raised parking and sidewalk concerns at the Seikai site, and staff said developers generally have two years to complete construction once they start vertical work, though extensions can be granted under certain circumstances.
