Public Works Director explained how crews use a factory‑made felt liner saturated with resin that is cured in place to form a continuous, joint‑free pipe. "You'll have a pipe that's good for the next hundred years with this liner," the director said, explaining the approach reduces joint‑related failures that commonly lead to sinkholes and yard damage.
The presentation included camera footage of an outfall on 25th Street, examples of prior makeshift repairs the city found while inspecting lines, and a description of trenching and new swale work linked to the tennis‑center stormwater improvements. Staff said the city has prioritized depressions and sinkholes reported by residents and that in‑house crews have performed sidewalk repairs and re‑striping to reduce costs. The director described dredging operations that are concluding a phase of work and previewed future budget phases for continued dredging.
Public Works noted costs can be significant for some repairs but stressed that by performing many repairs in‑house and using lower‑impact dredging and lining methods the city is generating material cost savings. The presentation was well received by commissioners, who praised the visible results and asked staff to post the visuals to the city website for residents to review.
