Dave Dixon told the board staff has "used it in public buildings occasionally" and that the mayor and administration are proposing to bring forward ordinance language to allow smaller, alternative-vehicle stalls in commercial plazas as an option for future code updates.
Members asked staff to consider precise definitions for "alternative vehicle" (so a 7-foot stall intended for a golf cart isn't filled by larger electric scooters or other equipment) and to ensure any credits for alternative-vehicle stalls are limited to parcels with internal two-way access to the city. Staff was directed to draft language and return for review before any formal ordinance is proposed.
