The Lighthouse Point Economic Development Committee voted to include a recommendation in its report urging the city to implement online permit submittal and to create a public development-guidance platform that would include how-to guides, parcel zoning maps and links to forms. The motion to include this portion of the recommendation passed by voice vote.
Committee members described the platform as a "low-hanging fruit" for improving customer service. Dave Dixon noted the city has some tools already but that full online permitting requires software licenses and equipment; he said staff would try to provide budget round numbers at the next meeting. "We could put in as much information as we can for the final report," Dixon said, noting interim improvements (web edits or plugins) could be pursued while planning for a full system.
