Commission approves Con Builders bid and LED lighting option for library renovation

Library Director Christie Keyes presented Phase 2 of the library renovation project, which includes a new 7.5‑ton HVAC unit, new interior doors, carpet, painting and minor construction, plus an optional interior LED lighting upgrade. Keyes told the commission the RFP produced multiple itemized LED quotes with an average of "$202,159" and that the low LED bid was "$131,617," a savings of more than $70,000 versus the average.
Staff noted potential energy rebates from the utility and estimated annual energy savings of about $3,500. The commission voted to award the renovation contract to Con Builders Inc. and adopted the resolution incorporating Option A (the LED lighting upgrade); the resolution authorizes expenditure of funds including from the Walt and Mary Baker Fund and directs city officials to execute the agreement.
