Students, teams honored: scholarship awards and national Green Power finish

Cynthia Garcia, Greens Power team leader and sponsor at Weaver Elementary, told the board the team built a go‑kart and placed 14th out of roughly 100 teams at the Talladega National Championship: "the team did place 14th in the nation." The board applauded the students’ achievements.
Lauren Young presented Aiden Lloyd as the 2026 Martha Vandervoort Memorial Scholar; Young said he was selected out of 163 applicants and will serve as an ambassador for the foundation. Mr. Willis also recognized individual track state champions (Carson Holly, Ali Anderson, and Ella Perez), noting Perez broke a 26‑year state record. Board members offered public praise and encouragement to the students and sponsors.
