Sweetwater ISD to lease day-care building to Savannah DeLeon; center renamed Cub House Learning Center

The Sweetwater Independent School District board voted on June 24 to offer a lease of the SISD day-care building and equipment to Savannah DeLeon after Superintendent Reggy Spencer reviewed the program’s history. The day-care began during COVID using ESSER funds; those funds have ended and prior SEED funding that allowed admitting non-employee children is uncertain going forward.
Spencer recommended leasing the facility and equipment to DeLeon while SISD continues to provide support through Aug. 29, 2025 by covering electricity, building insurance and maintenance/custodial services. Mrs. DeLeon presented her plans and said community and staff rates will likely increase. The minutes record that "the centers name going forward will be Cub House Learning Center." The board approved the lease offer by a 7-0 vote; Mrs. DeLeon's lease is recorded to begin Monday, September 1, 2025.
