Superintendent: Calhoun County schools’ state report card rises to 87 with gains across measures

Superintendent Willis told the board that the district’s state report-card score improved to an 87, marking the largest gain and highest score in Calhoun County history.
"We moved to an 87," Willis said, noting the district improved ELA and math proficiency, English language academic achievement, college- and career-readiness measures, graduation and attendance rates, and enrollment. He said Calhoun County was one of nine districts statewide to record gains across those metrics and, among large districts, was the only district with more than 7,000 students to make that achievement.
Willis credited administrators, teachers, staff and families for the progress and said the board nd district will continue working to maintain momentum. He said the improvement offers encouragement for continued strategies aimed at raising proficiency across grades and schools.
