The Borough Council adopted Resolution 2026-191 naming Gioca Soccer Academy as the official provider of recreational soccer programming for South River for a one-year term. The resolution sets compensation at $10 per participant (payment after verification) and caps total compensation at $17,500 for the one-year term; the Recreation Trust Fund will be the payment source. The resolution also permits Gioca to use Borough fields for approved programming without payment of field reservation or facility-use fees during the term, subject to scheduling and Recreation Department oversight.
During public comment, Zane Taha, identified in the minutes as a Gioca co-founder, spoke about the soccer program. The resolution requires vendor documentation, insurance and compliance with applicable laws and background-check requirements before payments can be made.
