Council members approved a slate of event permits at the May 27 meeting, greenlighting the Town-Wide Read (DEI Committee), Buskerfest & Sidewalk Sale (Greater Pitman Chamber of Commerce), the Hobo Band Summer Concert Series organized by the Recreation Department, the Garden Tour (Garden Club) and the July 4 road race.
Councilman Uyehara announced the Town-Wide Read proposal and tied it to tonight’s event-permit approvals: "I’d like to thank the DEI Committee for drafting the proclamation that was read tonight. I’d like to announce that the next Town-Wide Read event, subject to event approval tonight, will be June 4th from 6:30pm —6 8:30pm at the Theatre Ave pocket park." Insurance certificates were recorded as provided for the approved events.
Some event applications remained pending insurance certificates: the Panther Prowl 5K packet pickup (Oct. 17) and the Panther Prowl 5K race/walk (Oct. 18) were listed as pending; council members recorded abstentions on those pending items during roll call, which Solicitor Wright confirmed did not negate a valid majority vote on other items.
Why it matters: The approvals clear the calendar for several community-focused summer and fall gatherings that rely on borough services and road closures. Residents and organizers should note the Garden Tour (June 21), the Town-Wide Read (June 4) and the Recreation Department concert dates in planning.
