Councilman Mazzola reported a recommendation from the Economic Development Committee to pursue redevelopment or active reuse of the old Wawa building on Woodbury-Glassboro Road. Mayor Razze cautioned that the property may be subject to ongoing remediation monitoring, which has slowed any immediate steps, and said the council will meet with Planning & Zoning Chairman Nick Aspras for guidance on next steps.
During public comment both resident Walt Madison and Police Chief Dan McAteer urged the borough to take action on the property, citing loitering, dumping and general building deterioration that police see as a community problem. The council did not make a formal land-use decision during the work session; next steps are expected to be recommendations from planning and zoning leadership and any necessary coordination with environmental monitoring authorities or property remediators.
