Water Superintendent Ronnie Gittings told trustees at the May 6 Village of Stronghurst board meeting that the village well has declined to 78 gallons per minute and staff are supplying water to it every day. “The well is going down and is down to 78 gpm. We are having to continue supplying water to it every day. We are putting in 4 loads a day, which is becoming very expensive,” Ronnie said.
Trustees heard that the deliveries are an interim measure while staff evaluate options; Ronnie also reported that a new tractor was delivered the same day and is allowing workers to perform additional tasks around the village. The board did not take a formal vote on capital measures at the meeting but recorded the operational pressure from increased water‑delivery costs.
