Waco ISD students, fine‑arts team and community partner honored; district ranks among TAEA’s top programs

The board used part of its Nov. 21 meeting to recognize student performers and the district’s fine‑arts program. Waco High School and University High School students who participated in the Texas Thespian Festival were listed and acknowledged by name.
Board members recognized Larry Carpenter and the fine‑arts team for earning the Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction Award every year since the program began, placing the district in the top 1.3 percent of Texas districts and identifying it as one of 16 districts to achieve that record. The board also presented the November Community Partner Award to Waco Family Medicine for providing dental screenings at elementary schools and telehealth services to students.
