Waco ISD honors dozens of students with AP and College Board recognitions; Pilot Travel Centers wins community partner award

The board read names from both University High School and Waco High School rosters for AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction and AP Scholar with Honors. The minutes record that "Waco ISD had thirty-three high school students receive the Advanced Placement Scholar Award," and list recipients by school. District leaders also recited the names of 45 students who earned College Board national honors.
The board additionally presented October's Community Partner Award to Pilot Travel Centers in recognition of the company's financial support that the district says helps expand Special Olympics athletics opportunities for students with disabilities. The presentation acknowledged the partner's role in enabling athletic participation and health-focused activities for the district's Special Olympics participants.
The recognitions were part of the meeting's opening agenda and required no board action. Specific student names and award categories were recorded in the meeting minutes for public record.
