Students, staff highlight Career & Technical Education during CTE Month

Superintendent Schauff introduced a CTE Month presentation and Leah Morelli, Career and Technical Education Director, outlined district pathways — manufacturing, business, health science, and health & human services — and the CTE ambassador program used to develop student leadership and community outreach. Morelli emphasized transferable leadership skills and noted longstanding community partnerships with the local hospital (formerly Mercy Memorial, now ProMedica) for job‑shadowing experiences.
Multiple students described hands‑on learning and competitive opportunities: Kinsey Arnold, a student who travels from another high school for health science classes, said the program “gave me the opportunity to get some experience in the field that I'm thinking about going into into the future” and highlighted participation in HOSA. Gary White house the 3rd and others spoke about engineering, welding, automotive and construction classes and competitions such as MITES and the Trojan build. Morelli reported the high school CTE enrollment is just over 700 students this year, down about 100 seats from the previous year because of a change in fashion design offerings.
