Mayor Chamberlain recused himself from the agenda item concerning a 14-acre parcel owned by Roger and Caroleen Chamberlain because of an acknowledged conflict of interest. The proposal sought a zone change from Residential Agriculture (RA-10) to Rural Residential (R-R) to permit splitting the property into two buildable lots.
Raleigh Franklin moved to approve the rezoning; Clint Porter seconded and the motion passed with an 'AYE' vote. Mayor Chamberlain stated a preference that the area remain single-family rather than short-term rentals, but he did not participate in the council vote because of his recusal.
