Board approves stop sign at Mississippi Drive and Pine Drive pending Islip concurrence

Trustees opened a public hearing to consider a stop sign at the intersection of Mississippi Drive and Pine Drive, an intersection partly within Brightwaters and partly within the town of Islip. The village had received a petition requesting the sign and said it had contacted Islip to coordinate.
During the hearing a trustee moved to approve the stop sign “with the stipulation that the town of Islip approves the stop sign on their side also.” After a second, the board voted by voice vote in favor of placing the stop sign on the Brightwaters side, conditioned on Islip’s concurrence.
The board instructed staff to notify the town of Islip of Brightwaters’ approved action and to coordinate installation schedules once both jurisdictions agree.
