Board authorizes DOT to add lights on DeWitt Bridge; village will pay electricity

Jim Palmer, village administrator, explained that the resolution asks the New York State Department of Transportation to install additional lighting on the DeWitt Bridge segments within Bronxville. He said the work responds to pedestrian and vehicle use of the bridge and that the village would follow the common practice of paying electricity and replacing LED fixtures for lights on village-owned portions of state structures.
"This resolution is to authorize, state, Department of Transportation to, install additional lighting, on the DEWIP Bridge," Palmer said, noting that the plan replaces two existing fixtures and adds three more within the village for a total of five. Trustees voted to approve the resolution by voice vote.
Officials cautioned that DOT's bridge work will continue for months and that lighting installation is part of that ongoing project; the village will cover ongoing electricity costs for lights within its limits.
