Temple ISD board certifies unopposed trustee candidates, cancels Districts 1 and 6 election

The Temple Independent School District Board of Trustees on March 17 certified the unopposed candidates for Trustee Districts 1 and 6 and approved an order canceling the trustee election for those districts. Ronnie Gaines moved to approve the Certification of Unopposed Candidates for Districts 1 and 6; Dawn Cook seconded and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
Following that vote, Shannon Myers moved to approve the Order of Cancelation for Trustee Election for Districts 1 and 6; Ronnie Gaines seconded and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0. The board did not record any public comments on the election items during the meeting.
The actions remove the need to hold a contested election for those seats this cycle and will result in the certified candidates taking office under the normal trustee terms. The board meeting was called to order by Board President Dan Posey at 6:00 p.m. in the TISD Administration Offices Boardroom and adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
