City announces Block Party, financial workshops, Flag Retirement and summer concert series

City Manager Rob Sabo used the staff-reports portion of the May 26 meeting to outline several upcoming community events and programs.
Sabo said the annual Block Party will be Friday, June 5, from 6:00–10:00 p.m., featuring headliner Dancing Queen and opening act Rica Obsesion, market vendors, law-enforcement vehicle show, a K9 demonstration and family activities. He also highlighted a Brunch & Learn financial literacy workshop on May 28 from 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at City Hall, the Rolling Meadows Veterans Committee’s Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 14 at Kimball Hill Park, and the FRIDAYS ROCK! concert series beginning June 19. Planning for the city’s July 4 parade (11:30 a.m., Owl Lane) is underway and applications to participate are due June 25.
