Carl Guardino named Monte Sereno citizen of the year

The Monte Sereno City Council unanimously appointed Carl Guardino as the city's 2025 citizen of the year following public endorsement from several residents. One nominee who was not in the chamber joined from Colorado; multiple residents then described Guardino's community service. Joanne Sinclair opened public comment in support, saying she came "to provide my support for the nomination of Carlo Gardino as the citizen of the year," and later Dr. Billy Martin and others offered additional examples of Guardino's volunteer work.
Guardino, who logged in from out of town, said he was "so incredibly humbled" and thanked the council and residents. The council used a ranked-choice ballot to narrow nominees and then voted to appoint Guardino; members indicated plans to introduce him at the city's annual picnic on Aug. 24.
