The Board approved the appointment of Derek Smith to the public works department during its Dec. 9 meeting. Staff described Smith as a seasonal worker of more than six months who "showed initiative and got his commercial driver's license," and noted that he is a village resident — which staff said is helpful for emergency response.
"He's, worked for us for over 6 months. He showed initiative and got his commercial driver's license, and, he's also a resident of the village," the Staff member said. Trustees voted by voice to confirm the appointment.
