Council appoints three students to Monte Sereno Youth Commission

The Monte Sereno City Council appointed three local students to the 2025–26 Youth Commission on Aug. 19, following staff recommendations that expanded the commission from seven to nine seats for the school year.
Staff told the council three applications were received to fill remaining seats. Stella Zeidler introduced herself as a freshman at Los Gatos High School and cited student-government experience and interest in wildfire preparedness. "I think one thing we could do is educate people about wildfire preparedness," Zeidler said. Aradita, a junior at Saratoga High, described leadership roles in Model UN and community involvement, and Daniel, joining remotely, said he wanted to learn leadership skills and help make Monte Sereno "a better place for kids and families."
A council member moved to appoint all three applicants; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. Council members welcomed the new commissioners and noted the youth commission will staff a game area at the upcoming city picnic.
The appointments follow council direction earlier this summer to expand the commission for the 2025–26 school year. Staff said the council may expect to see the youth commissioners engaged at city events and meetings during the coming year.
The council took no separate action to change the commission bylaws at the meeting; any follow-up procedural steps or orientation for the new commissioners will be scheduled by staff.
