Development Director Steve Neilson presented ROWC‑3186, a request from property owner Johnny Carmichael to abandon an unimproved right‑of‑way off Sherwood Drive. Neilson said the right‑of‑way is approximately 50 feet wide and 300 feet long and that Mr. Carmichael owns the parcels adjoining it. "Mr. Carmichael owns all the parcels adjoining the right-of-way and indicated that he intends to combine the parcels and build a single-family home," the minutes state.
Staff recommended forwarding the right‑of‑way closure request to the City Council for approval; Commissioner John Wallace moved to approve the closure and Councilmember Robert (Bob) Garrett seconded. Voting was reported as 9 yes, 0 no and the motion carried. The minutes do not record any public opposition or conditions attached to the commission’s action; the item will proceed to City Council per standard abandoned-right‑of‑way procedures.
